Aerial roots of Dracaena draco L. (Asparagaceae) may grow out from the trunk, the branches and/or the underground root system. Their physiological function is unclear. This review summarizes information on the growth and structure-function relationships of aerial roots based on studies conducted on dragon trees growing in Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo- Unidad Asociada de I+D+i al CSIC. The structure of AR indicates its possible role in the absorption, transport, and storage of atmospheric water.
