    La producción historiográfica, jurídica y de teorización política en la Euskal Herria (Vasconia) de los siglos XVI al XVIII, fuertemente interrelacionada entre sí, tiene un relativamente importante desarrollo, orientado principalmente a defender y mantener el estatus foral de los respectivos territorios. Un conjunto de autores, predominantemente laicos, normalmente con formación jurídica, acometieron la tarea de ordenar y recopilar los distintos regímenes forales y de construir una base histórica justificatoria de estos sistemas jurídico-político diferenciados.

    XVI. mendetik XVIII. mendera arteko Euskal Herriko (Baskonia) ekoizpen historiografikoak, juridikoak eta teorizazio politikokoak –elkarri oso lotuta daude– garapen nahiko garrantzitsua dute, lurraldeen foru-estatusa defendatzera eta mantentzera bideratuta nagusiki. Zenbait egilek –batik bat laikoak ziren eta normalean prestakuntza juridiko zuten– foru-araubide ezberdinak ordenatu eta biltzeko eta sistema juridiko-politiko bereiz horien justifikazio-oinarri historiko bat eraikitzeko lana egin zuten.

    Historiographical and legal production, and political theorisation in the Basque Country (Vasconia) in the 16h though 18th centuries, while closely interrelated, have a relatively important development that is mainly aimed at defence and maintaining the fuero status of the respective territories. A group of predominantly secular authors, normally with legal training, took up the task of ordering and compiling the various fuero systems and building a historical basis to justify these differentiated legal and political systems.
