Resumen de Emigraciones desde la República Dominicana y diásporas: Inventario de fuentes

  A pesar de la innegable importancia que deriva del conocimiento académico de las cuestiones vinculadas con las emigraciones y diásporas, en la República Dominicana los investigadores y los tomadores de decisiones han priorizado las inmigraciones. Sin embargo, para una óptima creación y seguimiento de acciones y políticas públicas focalizadas hacia el migrante y/o las diásporas que residen en determinados países, es imprescindible conocer y caracterizar el fenómeno y sus dinámicas. Los principales productos y esfuerzos identificados en este sentido surgen tanto de instancias públicas y privadas —dominicanas y de los principales países que son destinos más habituales de la diáspora—, como de organizaciones internacionales y centros de estudios, pero hasta el momento no existe un inventario que dé cuenta de todas estas publicaciones y recursos. Esta contribución pretende paliar esta carencia mediante la sistematización de las diversas fuentes de datos, estudios y recursos dedicados a esta temática, de modo que el estado de esta cuestión quede evidenciado, facilitando así posteriores iniciativas investigativas

  Despite the undeniable importance that knowledge on emigration and diasporas have had for the Dominican Republic, traditionally researchers and decision makers have been mostly focused on the immigration perspectives. However, for an optimal creation and monitoring of actions and public policies focused on migrants and/or diasporas residing in certain countries, it is essential to know and characterize the phenomenon and its dynamics by itself. The main products and efforts identified in this regard arise both from public and private entities —from the Dominican Republic but also from the most common destinations of its diaspora— as well as from International Organizations, educative institutions and think tanks, but so far there is no inventory dedicated to account for all these knowledge products. This paper contribution aims to alleviate this absence by systematizing the various sources of data, studies and other published items dedicated to this academic field, so that the state of the art is evidenced, thus facilitating subsequent research initiatives
