  La hepatitis viral es una enfermedad infecciosa que afecta al hígado. Hoy en día, se han reconocido e identificado en humanos cinco virus de la hepatitis distintos: el virus de la hepatitis A (VHA), el virus de la hepatitis B (VHB), el virus de la hepatitis C (VHC), el virus de la hepatitis D (VHD) y el virus de la hepatitis E (VHE). Estos virus son muy diferentes en cuanto a sus formas de transmisión y características clínicas; ya que todos pueden causar hepatitis aguda, pero solo el VHB, el VHD y el VHC producen hepatitis crónica. Algunos de estos virus tienen tratamiento antiviral, mientras que otros se eliminan del cuerpo de forma natural.

  Viral hepatitis is an infectious disease that affects the liver. Today, five distinct hepatitis viruses have been recognized and identified in humans: hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis virus hepatitis D (HDV) and hepatitis E virus (HEV). These viruses are very different in terms of their modes of transmission and clinical characteristics; since all can cause acute hepatitis, but only HBV, HDV and HCV cause chronic hepatitis. Some of these viruses have antiviral treatment, while others are cleared from the body naturally.
