La pielonefritis clínica es una condición médica en la cual hay una inflamación del tejido renal causada por una infección bacteriana. Por lo general, ocurre cuando las bacterias de la vejiga ascienden al riñón y es más común en mujeres que en hombres.
La sintomatología suele cursar con fiebre y disuria entre otros, pudiendo llegar a sepsis si la evolución no es favorable o el tratamiento es tardío.
El diagnóstico requiere un examen clínico y urocultivo. El tratamiento consiste en terapia antibiótica, control del dolor y posibles complicaciones.
Se presenta un caso clínico de una paciente atendida en el servicio de urgencias con impresión diagnóstica de pielonefritis aguda y evolución favorable tras la aplicación del tratamiento.

Clinical pyelonephritis is a medical condition in which there is inflammation of the kidney tissue caused by a bacterial infection. It usually occurs when bacteria from the bladder ascends to the kidney and is more common in women than in men.
The symptoms usually present with fever and dysuria, among others, and can reach sepsis if the evolution is not favorable or the treatment is delayed.
Diagnosis requires clinical examination and urine culture. Treatment consists of antibiotic therapy, pain control, and possible complications.
A clinical case of a patient treated in the emergency department with a diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis and favorable evolution after the given treatment.
