    El propósito de esta investigación es establecer la importancia del método normatizado de procedimientos en la cavidad bucal, la necropsia oral o buco máxilo facial; su inserción y utilización durante el desarrollo del protocolo médico forense del cadáver de la autopsia médico legal y no antes o después del mismo, dentro del campo de la odontología forense en el sistema judicial venezolano como elemento auxiliar en la administración de justicia y sus implicaciones jurídicas. La autopsia buco máxilo facial o judicial constituyen uno de los procedimientos de mayor relevancia entre los realizados por la actividad médico u odontólogo forense, su importancia radica en el poder determinar la verdadera causa de la muerte: natural o violenta, y en este último caso, si fue accidental, suicida u homicida.Es por ello que la autopsia es considerada como la última posibilidad de consulta médico u odontólogo forense, ya que la interpretación de los hallazgos postmortem, permite conocer las bases anatómicas de los síntomas y signos, ejercicio que se conoce como correlación anatomo-clínico-forense; es decir, muestra el status del proceso patológico en el momento de la muerte. En este orden de ideas sería trascendental promover la realización de esta técnica como lo es autopsia bucal considerando los aportes con los que esta contribuyen a las ciencias forenses y la importancia de ser inserta en el protocolo de autopsia y necropsia médico legal.Recibido: 12/06/2021Aprobado: 30/06/2021

    The purpose of this research is to establish the importance of the standardized method of procedures in the oral cavity, the oral or buccal maxillofacial necropsy; its insertion and use during the development of the forensic medical protocol of the corpse of the medical legal autopsy and not before or after it, within the field of forensic dentistry in the Venezuelan judicial system as an auxiliary element in the administration of justice and its legal implications.The autopsy or the oral or maxillofacial or judicial constitute one of the most relevant procedures among those carried out by the forensic medical or dental activity, its importance lies in being able to determine the true cause of death: natural or violent, and in the latter case, if it was accidental, suicidal or homicidal. That is why the autopsy is considered the last possibility of medical or forensic dentist consultation, since the interpretation of the postmortem findings allows to know the anatomical bases of the symptoms and signs, an exercise known as anatomo-clinical correlation -forensic; that is, it shows the status of the pathological process at the time of death. In this vein, it would be important to promote the performance of this technique, such as oral autopsy, considering the contributions with which it contributes to forensic sciences and the importance of being inserted in the autopsy and medical-legal autopsy protocol.
