    At the time of social, political and cultural changes in the 15th century, it was published a book in the region of Alsace, then belonging to the Holy Roman-Germanic Empire, which created a new literary genre, the Narrenliteratur (Literature of the Fools), whose main objective was to warn mankind about the dangers of a new regulatory instance of the world, not being the Church. Sebastian Brant with his Das Narrenschiff (The Ship of the Fools) criticizes the deviations of that time, embodying the social agents as fools, who are led by new models of behavior. This article brings succinct reflections on this process of self-marginalization through a case study about the figure of the scholar, who, by captaining the ship, leads his passengers to eternal damnation without possibility of a return to salvation.

    Em tempos de mudanças sociais, políticas e culturais no século XV surge na região da Alsácia, então pertencente ao Sacro Império Romano-Germânico, uma obra, iniciadora de um gênero literário, a Narrenliteratur(Literatura dos Insensatos), cujo principal objetivo era advertir o homem de então dos perigos de uma nova instância reguladora do orbe, não sendo a Igreja. Sebastian Brant com seu Das Narrenschiff (A nau dos insensatos) critica os desvios de então, personificando os agentes sociais como insensatos, que se deixam levar por novos modelos de comportamento. Este artigo traz reflexões sucintas sobre este processo de automarginalização através de um estudo de caso acerca da figura do erudito, o qual, ao capitanear a nau, conduz seus passageiros à danação eterna sem possibilidade de retorno à salvação.
