The aim of this paper is to analyze two closely intertwined morphosyntactic topics of Atri’s dialect, in Eastern Abruzzo. The data reported in the following paragraphs do-cument in synchrony the auxiliary selection scheme and clitic placement in clauses with compound verbs. Accordingly, they allow to trace and expose the conditions operating in the selection of ‘to be’ or ‘to have’ in unergative, transitive, reflexive and unaccusative constructs and the context in which it is possible to postpone the clitic to the auxiliary of the compound verb.
