    Este trabajo es una investigación de tipo descriptiva, cuyo objetivo fue identificar las motivaciones que ejercieron más influencia en los alumnos que se inscribieron en la carrera de Interpretación en Lengua de Señas. El estudio se realizó en Quito, en el Instituto Tecnológico Cre-Ser, la única institución educativa en el Ecuador que oferta esta carrera a nivel nacional —hasta el año 2022—. El diseño temporal de la investigación es contemporáneo y transeccional; para desarrollarlo se contó con la participación de noventa y un estudiantes que respondieron una encuesta online. Las motivaciones se seleccionaron con base en las teorías de Gardner y Lambert, y se dividieron en dos tipos, la instrumental y la integrativa. Los resultados finales indican que, para este grupo particular de estudiantes, ambas motivaciones estaban conectadas debido a que hay factores profesionales y emocionales mezclados en sus razones para estar inscritos en la carrera.

    This descriptive research objective was to identify which motivation types influenced students who enroll at Interpretación en Lengua de Señas (Sign Language Interpreting) career. This research was carried out in Quito, at the Instituto Tecnológico Cre-Ser, the only educational institution in Ecuador that offers this course at a national level —until 2022—. Temporal design is contemporary, cross-sectional, and it involved the participation of 91 students who responded an online survey. Motivation types were selected based on Gardner and Lambert theories, and were subsequently divided into two types: instrumental and integrative motivation. The final results indicate that, for this particular group of students, both types of motivation were interconnected due to the fact that there are professional and emotional factors mixed within their reasons for being enrolled in the course.
