Los nuevos retos al que nos enfrentamos durante esta pandemia hacen que cada profesional de Enfermería busque estrategias para su autocuidado y por sobre todo el cuidado de la familia. Dorothea Orem sugiere que la Enfermería es una acción humana articulada en sistemas de acción formados por enfermeras a través del ejercicio de ser una actividad profesional ante personas con limitaciones de la salud o relacionadas con ella, que plantean problemas de autocuidado o de cuidado dependiente. Por lo tanto, la enfermera/o tiene una triple función: cuidar de sí mismo, cuidar de los demás y de su entorno. La profesión escogida y abrazada por los profesionales de Enfermeria es maravillosa y a la vez ingrata. Por ello, la OMS viendo tanta inequidad entre profesionales ha tenido el tino de declarar al 2020 como año internacional de la Enfermería, como presagiando lo que nos deparaba este año. En esta pandemia del COVID 19, el cuidar de los demás se ha convertido en una tarea peligrosa por falta de tiempo e insumos que garanticen la seguridad, las ilusiones de estar bien protegidos y equipados se diluyen y surgen las interrogantes de ¿será que estoy llevando conmigo al virus?, será que a pesar de los múltiples cuidados aplicados conmigo al llegar a casa bastan para acercarme a mis hijos? Hoy más que nunca ser enfermera/o duele, y debemos reconocer que la familia es un factor protector contra los retos presentes en la vida del profesional de Enfermería en tiempos de pandemia.

I would say this more than a profession, itis a lifestyle in which each one gives a plus of if, for the sake of the others, in which not only the monetary retribution is expected but it is a work of altruism. And here the sociologists would express, but if they are a group of people dedicated to doing the unpleasant and low social status jobs! Hey! Precisely this is the international year of Nursing, we have prepared ourselves to show the world what we really are, to exalt this profession that few know what it really is, but since God is the one who knows its value well, he sends the pandemic and It shows the world how much this profession is really necessary, as everyone is seeing what we do "is taking care of people's lives from birth to post-mortem", we are from the beginning and to the end of life taking care of you
