  • Resumen
    • In this work we have analyzed the behavior of a scale model of a wind turbine under different vertical tilt angles, which simulate the positions adopted by floating offshore wind turbines. To analyze the model performance, we have studied, in our laboratory system, the influence of the pitch angle in the blades under different wind conditions, paying special attention to the generated electrical power as a function of the available wind resource. The efficiency of the model has also been studied and compared to the one of commercial wind turbines. It has been found that the optimum angle does not correspond to the one with the highest mechanical efficiency, but to the one that provides the maximum power. The operational mode of drag floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) is of special interest to improve the performance of marine wind parks, since they can be intercalated between the existing wind turbines, reducing the turbulence effects and supplying extra power and energy.
