Resumen de Interpretaciones sociológicas de la salud y la salvación, y su relevancia teológica

Nos preguntamos si ha cambiado en los tiempos recientes la interacción entre la idea de salud y la de salvación, de sentido más teológico, y hasta qué punto los cambios percibidos redundan en la posibilidad de replantear las relaciones entre ciencia y fe religiosa. En primer lugar, un repaso a una tendencia en los estudios sobre religión y salud muestra por un lado su gran profusión y los resultados que apuntan a una influencia en general positiva de una variable en la otra. Por otro lado dichos estudios invitan a repensar algunos análisis en la sociología de la religión, en torno a su función y persistencia en sociedades bastante secularizadas, así como su carácter más decididamente “religioso”. Parece caro que dichos cambios inciden en la relación entre ciencia y fe, que puede reivindicar un discurso mucho más concreto y empírico, es decir la posibilidad de hablar un lenguaje común.

We wonder whether the interaction between the idea of health and the more theologically oriented of salvation has changed in recent times, and to what extent the perceived changes have led to rethinking the relationship between science and religious faith. Firstly, a review of a trend in studies on religion and health shows, on the one hand, their great profusion and the results that point to a generally positive influence of one variable on the other. On the other hand, these studies invite us to rethink some analyses in the sociology of religion, concerning its role and persistence in secularised societies, as well as its more decidedly “religious” character. It seems that such changes affect the relationship between science and faith, which can claim a much more concrete and empirical discourse, i.e. the possibility of speaking a common language with science.
