    Al identificar esta pintura con el Cristo de la Vid, se está proponiendo una interpretación desde su dimensión teológica. Su lenguaje plástico participa del arte de la Contrarrefoma, y revela un notable ejercicio de exposición doctrinal en torno a la Cruz y la Eucaristía. La originalidad de su iconografía, superior a su calidad estética, implica la intervención de un hombre de Iglesia, un teólogo que paute su diseño al desconocido ejecutor de la obra. Por su forma y contenido, es una pintura española del siglo XVIII en la que confluyen, felizmente, religión y arte.

    This painting is identified with the True Vine from a theological perspective. Its plastic language partakes in the art of the Counter-Reformation, and it reveals a notable attempt at indoctrinating in the Cross and the Eucharist. The singularity of its iconography, which is superior to its aesthetic quality, implies the guidance of a theologian throughout the design process. Regarding its shape and content, it is an 18th Century Spanish painting that smoothly brings together art and religion.
