    En estos momentos en los que se plantea una posible reforma de régimen de las legítimas en el Código Civil, es un buen momento para reflexionar sobre la posible revisión de la legítima de los ascendientes. Para ello es útil ver el tratamiento de la cuestión en otros derechos cercanos al nuestro y examinar el papel que la figura puede cumplir en nuestra sociedad. Dentro de la idea de la necesidad de realizar una reforma a fondo de las legítimas en su conjunto, se hacen algunas propuestas sobre las modificaciones que podrían llevarse a cabo para modernizar la de los ascendientes. Se toma en cuenta también la posibilidad de que en esa futura reforma de las legítimas éstas se vean sustituidas por una obligación de alimentos, en cuyo caso también habría de plantearse esta obligación como medida de protección para los ascendientes.

    In these moments in which a possible reform of the legitime regime in the Civil Code is being considered, it is a good moment to reflect on the possible revision of the legitime of the ascendants. To this end, it is useful to see the regulation in other rights close to ours and examine the role that the figure can play in our society. In the idea of the need to carry out a global reform of the legitime, some proposals are made about the modifications that could be made to modernize the legitime of the ascendants. In addition, the possibility is also taken into account that in this future reform of the legitime ones they are replaced by a maintenance obligation, in which case this obligation would also have to be considered as a protection measure for the ascendants.
