Since the resurgence of the cabildos as a legal-administrative institution at the beginning of the 20th century with the so-called cabildos Law of 1912 to the present, its internal organizational regime has gone through different stages in a more or less parallel trajectory to the Provincial Councils, but always with clearly differential notes, thus justifying not only their existence after a century but also the need to adapt their legal regime to the complex nature and functions assigned to them both as a governing body and administration of the local island entity, as well as and especially, from its consideration as an institution of the Autonomous Community.
