In the Central Middle Ages, more than thirty monasteries -bothbenedictines and cistercians- populated the banks of the Miño and Sil ri-vers, developing an important economic, religious, artistic and culturaltask. The present article starts from the resulting written heritage, focusingon the paleographic analysis of the preserved documents, to learn how itwas written in the Ribeira Sacra during the 13th century; to know whatscriptures were used by their material authors; and to detect which werethe main graphic changes -the transition from Carolingian script to Gothicscript- that happened in this space and time
Durante los años centrales del medievo, más de una treintenade monasterios -tanto benedictinos como cistercienses- poblaron las ribe-ras de los ríos Miño y Sil, desarrollando una importante labor económica,religiosa, artística y cultural. El presente trabajo parte del patrimonio escri-to resultante, centrándose en el análisis paleográfico de los diplomas con-servados, para conocer cómo se escribía en la Ribeira Sacra durante el si-glo XIII; saber qué escrituras eran dominadas y empleadas por sus artíficesmateriales; y detectar cuáles fueron los principales cambios gráficos -eltránsito de la escritura carolina a la gótica- ocurridos en este espacio y eneste tiempo
