Resumen de The impact of evaluation and preparation time on high public speaking anxious speakers’ thoughts, behavior, and state‐communication apprehension

Joe Ayres, Sean Michael Raftis

  • This study set out to determine if the presence of time restrictions and differential evaluation affected the thoughts, behaviors, and state‐communication apprenension (CA) levels of people who reported high levels of public speaking anxiety (PSA). The time restriction variable did not significantly affect high PSAs’ thoughts, behavior, or state CA. However, people expecting to be evaluated reported more negative thoughts, higher state CA, and exhibited more behavioral disruption than those not expecting to be evaluated. Implications of these findings are discussed at the conclusion of the paper.
