    La rodilla es una articulación sinovial o diartrósica, tipo bisagra o trocleartrosis. A nivel óseo está formada por tres estructuras (la extremidad distal del fémur, la extremidad proximal de la tibia y la rótula o patela), las cuales delimitan tres compartimentos definidos y parcialmente separados: compartimentos medial, lateral y femororrotuliano.

    The knee is a synovial or diarthrodial, hinge-type or trochlearthrosis joint. At the bony level, it consists of three structures (the distal end of the femur, the proximal end of the tibia and the patella or patella), which delimit three defined and partially separated compartments: medial, lateral and patellofemoral compartments.
