    Durante el denominado Trienio Liberal (1820-1823), propiciado por el pronunciamiento militar del teniente coronel Rafael del Riego Cabezas, en Talavera de la Reina se produjeron las transformaciones y tensiones políticas que se daban a ciudades de mayor relieve: jura de la Constitución, creación de la Milicia Nacional, lucha contra partidas de guerrilleros absolutistas... Un pequeño teatro de operaciones cercano a la corte en la que abundó el tránsito y acantonamiento de tropas, incluidas las francesas.

    During the so-called Liberal Triennium (1820-1823), brought about by the military pronouncement of Lieutenant Colonel Rafael del Riego Cabezas, in Talavera de la Reina the transformations and political tensions that occurred in major cities took place: the oath of the Constitution, creation of the National Militia, fight against parties of absolutist guerrillas... A small theater of operations close to the court in which the transit and cantonment of troops abounded, including the French.
