Resumen de Entender el barrio, una aproximación desde las ciencias sociales

  La poca claridad del concepto barrio elaborado por  las ciencias sociales, ha permitido  que dicha definición sea conceptualizada mayormente por la arquitectura o por determinados términos jurídicos.  Es decir, se teoriza desde lo que se puede observar,  pasando por alto las identidades que los barrios van formando. Esta poca claridad conceptual trae consigo a demás que el barrio sea considerado como la esencia de la realidad urbana  y no como un aspecto contingente, cayendo en la ideologización del mismo y tratándolo como unidad base de la ciudad, condicionándolo al desarrollo de la misma.

  Sin embargo, el barrio opera con un tiempo y un espacio social distinto al de la ciudad. Por tanto, debe de observarse desde otra vereda y con otra intencionalidad. Desde esta concepción, necesariamente hay que estudiar al barrio alejado de la ciudad. Es decir, como unidad al margen de la constitución céntrica de la misma, con el fin de establecer la separación de una identidad principal, y de diferentes identidades que circulan y se materializan en el barrio.

  The lack of clarity of the neighborhood concept elaborated by the social sciences has allowed this definition to be conceptualized mainly by architecture or by certain legal terms. That is to say, it´s theorized from what can be observed, ignoring the identities that the neighborhoods creates. Also, this lack of clarity brings with it the fact that the neighborhood is considered as the essence of urban reality and not as a contingent aspect, falling into the ideologization of it and treating it as the base unit of the city, conditioning it to its development.

  However, the neighborhood operates with a different time and social space than the city. Therefore, it must be observed from another path and with another intention. From this conception, it is necessary to study the neighborhood far from the city. That is, as a unit outside it´s central constitution, in order to establish the separation of a main identity, and of different identities that circulate and materialize in the neighborhood.
