This paper reflects on the relevance of the use of narrative —especially the novel— in teachingArt History. Focused on fiction, but also on the affective experience, the literary text can be ofgreat help to students in the incorporation of the artistic experience in a more creative way. Theuse of textual strategies close to literature could be central in the development of imaginationand the analysis of the unexpected, but also it works with the potency of aesthetic and emotional response of the students. Novel functions here as a laboratory for art writing.
