Tourism centered research has enjoyed a long history as an independentbranch in Spanish geography, due to the magnitude and importance that this sector holdsin our territory. This reality has its most consistent manifestation, among many otherforums, in the activity carried out by the Tourism Group of the Spanish GeographyAssociation. Its scope and relevance is especially evident in its biennial conferences, whose topics and contributions are used to conduct a small review of the scientificproduction carried out by the research groups between 2012 and 2020. Its preliminarydiagnosis reveals great dynamism in the adaptation of the research to the lines of interestthat have been institutionalized through the financing of the various projects. However, certain shortcomings are still evident; especially, in relation to the critical treatment oftourism, the economic, social and environmental dynamics derived from global changeand the incorporation of analyses with a focus on gender.
