    Analízase a visión histórica de Murguía, en concreto como medievalista, tendo presente a súa confesionalidade progresista e súa orientación nacionalista galega, nun contexto socio-político e cultural como o da segunda metade do século XIX no Estado español, subliñando así o carácter e a intención da súa obra histórica en defensa da condición de Galiza como nación. Asemade explícase a propia evolución da visión histórica medieval murguiana, sen perder a coherencia nacionalista, a partir da restauración borbónica, aproveitando para sinalar tanto os seus avances de coñecemento e interpretación do medievo galego, como as súas limitacións, así como a recepción da súa obra historiográfica polas institucións académicas oficiais

    The historical vision of Murguía is analysed, specifically as a medievalist, bearing in mind his progressive confessionality and his Galician nationalist orientation, in a socio-political and cultural context such as that of the second half of the nineteenth century in the Spanish state, thus highlighting the character and intention of his historical work in defence of the condition of Galicia as a nation. In addition, the evolution of Murguía’s medieval historical vision is explained, without losing its nationalist coherence, from the Bourbon Restoration, taking the opportunity to point out both his advances of knowledge and interpretation of the Galician Middle Ages, as well as his limitations, and the reception of his historiographical work by the official academic institutions
