El pensamiento mítico fue un tipo de racionalidad asistida, mediada por las figuras de las diversas divinidades que operaban como símbolos reguladores de los más variados fenómenos naturales. Los fenómenos curativos fueron mediados por los signos que representaba la figura de Asclepio, junto a las otras divinidades auxiliares que congregaron esta serie de técnicas e ideas del ámbito de la medicina. La medicina “fisiológica” y “técnica” surgirá a partir del siglo V a. C., a raíz de la filosofía de Alcmeón de Crotona, la Escuela de Hipócrates de Cos y la sistematización de Claudio Galeno.

Mythical thought was a type of assisted rationality, mediated by the figures of the various divinities that operated as regulating symbols of the most varied natural phenomena. The healing phenomena were mediated by the signs represented by the figure of Asclepius, together with the other auxiliary divinities that brought together this series of techniques and ideas from the field of medicine. “Physiological” and “technical” medicine will emerge from the 5th century BC, following the philosophy of Alcmaeon of Crotona, the School of Hippocrates of Cos and the systematization of Claudio Galen.
