This paper argues that the various (and not equivalent) probabilistic measures of confirmation correspond to different sorts or conceptual aspects of the evidential support relation. It seems necessary to distinguish between confirmation and explanation, on the one hand, and between gross and net evidential support, on the other hand. Finally considering some different issues involved for each measure can establish an appropriate application scope.
