I develop an advisory assessment of the recent debate concerning the impact of the dynamical approach on philosophical accounts of explanation for the cognitive sciences. The remarks here advanced are specially aimed at evaluating the role and relevance of the debate facing the growing attention that dynamicist research is harvesting. Towards this end, I argue for a greater appreciation of the relation between explanation and other cognitive goals, and an increased sensitivity towards the associated contextual factors.
