Ciberacoso y su relación con el rendimiento académico estudiantil

    El ciberacoso o acoso entre adolescentes, es una forma emergente de hostigamiento que se manifiesta a través de medios electrónicos. El objetivo de la investigación, fue analizar el fenómeno del ciberacoso y su relación con el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes. El trabajo se desarrolló bajo un enfoque mixto, de tipo no experimental correlacional descriptivo, con una población de 292 estudiantes de educación media, pertenecientes a una institución educativa colombiana. Los resultados indican que el ciberacoso sí influye en el rendimiento académico estudiantil, donde los agresores son estudiantes con desempeño bajo y básico, mientras que las víctimas tienen desempeños alto y superior. El comportamiento de los espectadores se da porque: tienen miedo a ser agredidos por los victimarios, excluidos por las víctimas o expulsados de la institución educativa. Se concluye con la importancia de identificar los factores que influyen en el comportamiento de los agresores, lo cual permitirá proponer mecanismos que ayuden a víctimas y espectadores a denunciar esta situación.

    Cyberbullying, or bullying among adolescents, is an emerging form of harassment that manifests itself through electronic means. The objective of the research was to analyze the phenomenon of cyberbullying and its relationship with the academic performance of students. The work was developed under a mixed descriptive correlations non-experimental approach, with a population of 292 high school students, belonging to a Colombian educational institution. The results indicate that cyberbullying does influence student academic performance, where the aggressors are students with low and basic performance, while the victims have high and superior performance. The behavior of the spectators occurs due they are afraid of being attacked by the victimizers, excluded by the victims, or expelled to them from the educational institution. It concludes with the importance of identifying the factors that influence the comportment of the aggressors, which will allow to propose mechanisms that help victims and observer to report this situation.
