Resumen de The Müller-Lyer Visual Illusion: Tricking the Brain or Tricking the Scientist?

Alex Díaz

  • Perceptual illusions are generally described as brain misinterpretation of sensory information. This presentation tries to illustrate that, even if the brain misinterpretation hypothesis is only one of the alternatives, it slowly becomes a strong explanation within adjacent fields. It is hypothesized that scientific knowledge is subject to confirmation bias due to the high presence of mainstream-accounts of phenomena. An analytic external account of the Müller-Lyer phenomenon is also enclosed.
