Zalta applies his theory of abstract objects to account for the reference of terms like "(absolute) simultaneity ", "caloric" or "phlogiston", where these references are understood as fictional entities. This conveys that the reference of each of those terms is determined by all the conditions established by the corresponding theory. This proposal is assessed in the light of Kuhn’s considerations according to which kinds are the reference of scientific terms.
