Resumen de Huellas canarias en la Güira de San Juan de la Puerca (Báguanos, Holguín, Cuba)

  Nuestro objetivo inicial en 1989 era crear el árbol genealógico familiar, pero a medida que se avanzaba en la investigación genealógica se descubrían ancestros fundadores de la ciudad de Holguín y emigrados canarios, entre otros. Asimismo, el pueblo natal de las investigadoras, La Güira, está marcado por la presencia predominante de descendientes de al menos diez apellidos, de los cuales dos son de canarios emigrados a fines del siglo XIX. Durante la investigación se han recogido datos a partir de testimonios orales, libros y todo tipo de documentos impresos o digitales, ya sean partidas de nacimiento y matrimonio, artículos, etc., fruto de búsquedas en archivos, cuando ha sido posible, o gracias a aportes colaborativos. Actualmente, hacemos un primer corte que nos permite concretizar la dirección de las futuras búsquedas para conseguir uno de nuestros objetivos finales: crear el árbol genealógico colectivo de los güireros, encontrar los primeros ancestros cubanos y sus ancestros europeos.

  Our initial goal in 1989 was to create the family tree, but as genealogical research progressed, founding ancestors of the city of Holguín and Canarian emigrants, among others, were discovered. Likewise, the hometown of the researchers (La Güira) is marked by the predominant presence of descendants of at least ten surnames, of which two are from Canarians emigrated in the late nineteenth century. During the research, data have been collected from oral testimonies, books and all kinds of printed or digital documents, whether birth and marriage certificates, articles, etc., the result of searches in archives, when possible, or thanks to collaborative contributions. Currently, we make a first cut that allows us to concretize the direction of future searches to achieve one of our final objectives: to create the collective family tree of the güireros, find the first Cuban ancestors and their European ancestors.
