Resumen de Les traducciones del italianu del Padre Galo: un averamientu al traductor, al poeta y al home

Over the first third of the 20th century, a figure of exceptional cultural and human interest emerges within the Asturian literary dimension. However, despite his priceless contribution to the Asturian Language and Literature Father Galo has remained in the shadows until very recently. The documental collections of his personal archive are currently being digitized and studied by the Fernán-Coronas Project. This project is making and outstanding contribution in order to bring to light an immense literary, philological and ethnographic legacy, whose in-depth analysis is starting to allow researchers to paint the portrait of a man of a great intellectual persona, passionate about research in his mother tongue in very different fields. Within the enormous poetic production of Fernán-Coronas, which is preserved in thousands of recently discovered handwritten files, the translation of lyrical work occupies a place of special relevance. This article will explore the few but extraordinary poems that Fernán-Coronas translated into Asturian from the Italian language. These works range from the Renaissance poetics of Buonarroti to the different aesthetic currents of the 19th century, with names as immortal as those of Leopardi, Carducci, Pascoli or Tommaseo. This paper will also cast some light on the poetic and translating personality of Father Galo, by contemplating his work from different perspectives (aesthetic, lexical, metric, traductological, historical or biographical). It will also show the importance that direct reception of universal literature has for the normalization of a minority language, such as the Asturian language, as the translation of this literature typically goes through the linguistic, thematic or commercial filter of a dominant language in the translation process.

Nel primer terciu del sieglu XX apaez dientro del panorama lliterariu asturianu una figura d'esceicional interés cultural y humanu que, a pesar de la so impagable contribución a la llingua y lliteratura asturianes, tuvo na solombra hasta feches bien de recién. Los fondos documentales del archivu personal del valdesanu Padre Galo, que nesti momentu se dixitalicen y s’estudien dende’l Proyectu Fernán-Coronas, tán sacando a la lluz un inmensu heriedu lliterariu, filolóxicu y etnográficu nel que’l so analís fondu dexa perfilar con más claridá la semeya del so autor: un home d’un gran pesu intelectual, apasionáu pola investigación na so llingua materna n’ámbitos bien distintos. Dientro de la escomanada producción poética de Fernán-Coronas que se conserva en miles de fiches manuscrites y qu’agora se conoz, la traducción d’obra llírica ocupa un llugar d’especial relevancia. L’oxetivu d’esti artículu ye dar a conocer les poques pero estraordinaries poesíes que dende la llingua italiana virtió Fernán-Coronas al asturianu, obres que tomen dende la poética renacentista de Buonarroti hasta les distintes corrientes estétiques del XIX, con nomes tan inmortales como los de Leopardi, Carducci, Pascoli o Tommaseo. D’esti xeitu, y contemplándoles dende diferentes prismes (estéticu, léxicu, métricu, traductolóxicu, históricu o biográficu), quierse non solo apurrir dalguna lluz sobre la propia personalidá poética y traductora del Padre Galo, sinón tamién reflexar la importancia que pa la normalización d’una llingua minorizada, como ye l’asturiana, tien la receición direuta de la lliteratura universal ensin pasar pel filtru llingüísticu, temáticu o comercial que supón la intermediación d’una llingua dominante.
