    L’article développe l’argumentation méthodologique selon laquelle des choix théoriques constituent les objets de recherche. Or, les termes d’interculturel ou d’exolingue ne décrivent pas des qualité intrinsèques, ou « objectives », de situations d’interaction ou de communication ; ils manifestent plutôt d’une perspective de recherche spécifique qui se construit son objet à partir de données empiriques. L’analyse d’exemples tirés de corpus de communications authentiques permet d’exemplifier ce point. Une deuxième argumentation souligne le caractère située de tout corpus conversationnaliste dont la spécificité rend difficile la généralisation des observations par rapport à l’interlangue des interlocuteurs alloglottes ou par rapport aux processus acquisitionnels, en particlier en ce qui concerne la notion de contrat didactique.

    The paper tries to develop the methodological hypothesis which claims that theoretical considerations constitute the basis for the defintion of research objects. This position implicates that the notions of intercultural or exolingual communication do not describe "objectively" given caracteristics of a specific situation; on the contrary, they are chosen in accordance with a particular perspective of observation which focuses on a specific kind of phenomena. A number of sequences taken from data of everyday conversation constitute the empirical basis for the examplification of this aspect. In a second part, the paper discusses the problem of how generalizations can be made in the context of qualitative case studies on acquisitional processes and on so called learning agreements.
