In the Late medieval Crown of Aragon, the queen consort had to embody an ideal version of the aristocratic lady, in order to strengthen her person. Being seen as a «good queen» le-gitimized her and allowed her to participate and intervene in the political, economic and social sphera of the Crown with a recognized social authority. In order to understand the role of the queen, in this article we will present a concep-tual definition of the same within the monarchi-cal scheme. The paper will focus on exposing the qualities and attitudes of the ideal of Late Medieval Queen, the mechanisms of projection of a personal image within the framework and, finally, how it resulted in a socially accepted capacity to intervene and mediate.
