Resumen de El museo de ciencias naturales Hermano León del Colegio La Salle de Paterna (València): orígenes, evolución y perspectivas de futuro

  The Brother León Museum is a natural science museum located in La Salle School in Paterna (València). It was created at the beginning of the 1950’s and nowadays it has a total of almost 14.600 specimens, divided in different collections, such as botany, zoology, mineralogy, and palaeontology. In this work we pretend to reconstruct the history of the museum, check how it has evolved during the years and highlight the importance of its collections, not only because of their great historical value, but also because of the educational and scientific value. With this purpose, we have studied the different reasons why the museum could have been created, as well as which people have contributed to the creation and improvement of the museum. Finally, we suggest some projects that could be carried out at this museum to preserve it and to get the most of it, for science and society.

  El Museo Hermano León es un museo de ciencias naturales ubicado en el Colegio La Salle de Paterna (València). Creado a principios de los años 50 del siglo XX, cuenta actualmente con un total de casi 14.600 piezas, divididas en diferentes colecciones, entre las que destacan las de botánica, zoología, mineralogía y paleontología. En el presente trabajo se pretende reconstruir la historia del museo, ver cómo ha evolucionado a lo largo de los años y poner en valor las colecciones que alberga, no solamente por su gran valor histórico, sino también por su valor didáctico y científico. Con este fin, se han estudiado los posibles motivos por los que fue creado el museo, así como quiénes han contribuido a su creación y mejora a lo largo del tiempo. Finalmente, se proponen algunos proyectos a realizar en el museo para su conservación y para sacarle el máximo partido, tanto a nivel científico como social.
