Navarre was believed to be a conservative region, but on the contrary during the last years of Franco’s dictatorship it became one of the most conflictive provinces of Spain, due to far-left parties who lead the opposition movements. Surprisingly, the main political current among those parties was the Mao Zedong thought. The objective of this text is to summarize why Maoism reached such a big popularity in Navarre, as well as to explain how did the Maoism influence in the opposition together with the interpretation far-left militants did on Maoism.
