Resumen de Una experiencia grupal: cuidar al cuidador

Los cuidadores informales son la unidad de apoyo más importante que tienen muchos pacientes, además de ser elementos sanitarios de gran valor para las instituciones de salud. Los cuidadores se sienten desbordados por sus problemas (agotamiento, cansancio, falta de apoyo social y familiar...) y, por ello,mediante este trabajo nos propusimos enseñar a los cuidadores a desarollar hábitos de vida para que pudieran combinar el cuidado al familiar enfermo con el propio autocuidado.
Realizamos una intervención grupal, en la que participaron 12 cuidadores informales. Se utilizaron técnicas grupales y de grupo operativo.
Mediante el análisis del discurso grupal con metodología cualitativa, se identificó que el grupo ayudó a desdramatizar y positivizar aspectos que se pierden en el desempeño de su tarea, tomar decisiones, relativizar sus problemas y, encontraron espacio para su autocuidado.

Non professional care providers are the most importantsupport unit for many patients and they are high valuables for the health institutions. Care providers feel themselves overwhelmed by problems such as tiredness, fatigue, lack of social and familiar support, etc.
The experience of teaching care providers to able them to develop new skills that allow them to combine self - care with taking care of their significant others is presented.
Group techniques and operative group technique were used for the group intervention that was done for twelve non professional care providers.
Qualitative methodology was used to analyze the discourse of the group.
The intervention has been identified as a helpful to improve decision - making, to look at their roles in a more positive way,to minimize their problems and to find an space for self - care.
