El Humor: una habilidad a desarrollar en la práctica de los Cuidados Enfermeros

    Los objetivos de este estudio fueron:

    Conocer la predisposición de los alumnos de Enfermería hacia el humor; si relacionaban éste con la salud, si lo identificaban como un recurso para la práctica de los cuidados y, por último, cómo ellos mismos expresaban su humor. Partimos de la hipótesis de que el humor es una capacidad humana que tiene distintas aplicaciones y cuyas manifestaciones pueden observarse, aprenderse y desarrollarse.

    Se realizó un estudio descriptivo. La población objeto de estudio fueron los estudiantes de Enfermería de la Universidad de Alcalá (Madrid), tomando una muestra de 150 sujetos. Para la recogida de los datos fue diseñado un cuestionario autocumplimentado con veinte preguntas dicotómicas (sí/no), una abierta y tres mixtas. Las preguntas indagaban sobre las cualidades para la relación social, las cualidades del humor, la aplicación/utilidad del humor, las actitudes ante éste y las formas de expresarlo. Para el tratamiento estadístico de los datos se utilizó el programa SPSS 10.0.

    El 21% de los estudiantes relacionaron la alegría con el humor. Respecto a las cualidades para la relación social, el compañerismo fue la más importante para la relación personal (33,4%) y para la práctica asistencial (32%); el 46% identificaron la organización como la cualidad más importante en los docentes. Se obtuvieron porcentajes por encima del 80% en todos los ítems que valoraban la aplicación/utilidad del humor. El 82% utilizaba habitualmente el humor y el 76,7% apoyaba una formación específica en este campo.

    El humor forma parte de la vida cotidiana de los estudiantes de Enfermería, identificando el humor con actitudes positivas ante la vida y que, a su vez, apoyan una formación específica en este campo.

    To find out about the predisposition of Nursing towards humour, whether humour is related to health, whether the nurses consider it a resource for the healthcare routine, and finally, the way in which they themselves express their humour. We start with the hypothesis that humour is a human capacity that has different applications and that manifestations of humour can be observed, learnt and developed.

    A descriptive study was carried out. The population of the study were student nurses from the University of Alcalá (Madrid). A sample of 150 subjects was taken. A questionnaire was designed for data collection, filled in by the subjects themselves, with twenty yes/no questions, one open-ended question and three mixed questions. The questions probed the qualities necessary for social relationship, the qualities of humour, the application and use of humour, attitudes towards humour and ways of expressing it. For the statistical treatment of the data, the SPSS 10.0 program was used.

    21% of the students related happiness with humour. Regarding the qualities for social relationships, companionship was the most important for personal relations (33.4%) and for care giving (32%); 46% identified organisation as the most important quality in the teachers. Percentages greater than 80% in all items that evaluated the application/use of humour were obtained. 82% regularly used humour and 76.7% supported specific training in this area.

    Conclusions: Humour forms part of the daily life of nursing students, humour being identified with positive attitudes towards life. The students are also in favour of specific training in this area.
