The paper deals with green public procurement. More specifically, it is aimed at studying in depth the role that GPP can act in the construction of the «circular economy». Moreover, it is also aimed at evaluating the contribution that state, regional and local public administration could actually give to reach such ambitious goal. Then analyses the regulatory framework and in particular the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM). The reasons for this study originate in the ever greater relevance that the national legislator, in keeping with the EU spirit, has conferred to environmental protection in the procurement sector. Public procurement thus becomes one of the most important economic tools for environmental protection
