    En las páginas que siguen comentamos críticamente el último libro de Ricardo Parellada (El orgullo, ¿vicio o virtud?), un estudio histórico-filosófico que contribuye tanto a reconstruir la historia del orgullo en el pensamiento y la literatura occidentales (en la línea de la «Historia de las emociones», una corriente historiográfica reciente), como al análisis fenomenológico del mismo (piénsese en la también reciente «Fenomenología de las emociones»), desde una perspectiva que interesará también a quienes hacen «Ciencias de las religiones». Además de exponer las principales líneas argumentales del libro y de destacar sus aportaciones que creo más interesantes, entraré en discusión con algunos planteamientos de la mano de pensadores medievales y trataré de arrojar luz sobre aquellas partes del libro de más difícil comprensión.

    In the following pages we will comment critically on Ricardo Parellada’s latest book (Pride, vice or virtue?), a historical-philosophical study that contributes both to reconstructing the history of pride in western thought and literatura (along the lines of the “History of emotions”, a recent historiographical trend), and to the phenomenological analysis of it (think of the also recent “Phenomenology of emotions”), from a perspective that will also interest those working in the field of Religionswissenschaft. In addition to outlining the main lines of argument of the book and highlighting its most interesting contributions, I will discuss some of the approaches of medieval thinkers and try to shed light on those parts of the book that are more difficult to understand.
