El maltrato infantil familiar y el lugar que ocupa en la sociedad

    El maltrato infantil familiar, en la actualidad, se presenta como una problemática de carácter estructural. Sin embargo, la gestión del problema se hace desde la perspectiva de caso y gira en torno a la individualidad de la familia. Así, la gestión y sensibilización hacia el maltrato infantil están estrechamente ligados a la idea generalizada que se ha conformado del mismo. De modo que, el sistema de protección de menores no protege de forma adecuada al conjunto de las víctimas de maltrato y, como consecuencia, hay un sector de la población infantil que está sufriendo de forma sistemática múltiples formas de violencia en su propio hogar que no son atendidas por las instituciones pertinentes.

    El presente trabajo trata de relacionar, a través de una investigación cualitativa, cuál es la representación social del maltrato infantil y de que múltiples maneras afecta a las víctimas. En un primer momento, se tratan algunas de las consecuencias del maltrato infantil, donde destaca el hallazgo de lo que se ha denominado “desamparo de hogar”. A continuación, nos aproximamos a la posición que ocupa el maltrato infantil en el imaginario social y la relación de dependencia que tiene con la familia, concluyendo que esta dependencia explica en buena parte la desprotección infantil cuando el entorno familiar es hostil. Por último, la investigación expone ejemplos concretos del problema teórico para su plena comprensión.

    Child maltreatment in the family is currently presented as a structural problem. However, the management of the problem is done from a case-by-case perspective and revolves around the individuality of the family. Thus, the management and awareness of child maltreatment are closely linked to the generalised idea that has been formed of child maltreatment. Thus, the child protection system does not adequately protect all victims of maltreatment and, as a consequence, there is a sector of the child population that is systematically suffering multiple forms of violence in their own home that are not attended to by the relevant institutions.

    This work attempts to relate, through qualitative research, the social representation of child maltreatment and the multiple ways in which it affects the victims. First of all, some of the consequences of child maltreatment are dealt with, where the finding of what has been called "homelessness" stands out. Next, we look at the position that child maltreatment occupies in the social imaginary and the relationship of dependence that it has with the family, concluding that this dependence explains to a large extent the lack of child protection when the family environment is hostile. Finally, the research presents concrete examples of the theoretical problem for its full understanding.
