    El autor presenta la situación de salud en el área materno-infantil en Centroamérica, justificando la importancia que reviste el estudio de las políticas públicas en esta área, no solo desde el punto de vista de la representatividad del binomio madre-niño, sino del impacto que tienen en toda la población, las acciones de los gobiernos en materia de salud dirigidas a este grupo.

    The author presents the health situation in the area of maternal and child health in central america, justifying the importance of studying public policies in this area, not only from the point of view of the representativeness of the mother-child binomial, but also from the impact that government health actions aimed at this group have on the population as a whole.
