    El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal estudiar el pensamiento social de Fernández Flórez mediante el análisis de una de sus obras más significativas (Las siete columnas) y, en particular, el estudio de los paralelismos de la misma con la obra fundacional del pensamiento liberal conservador, La fábula de las abejas de Bernard de Mandeville. En un primer bloque, tras aproximarnos a las visiones generales sobre el pensamiento de este autor, haremos un recorrido por ambas obras analizando el trasfondo, su estructura y contenido. Esta revisión mayormente descriptiva nos permitirá destacar los paralelismos existentes, tanto en el planteamiento del ideario liberal-conservador como en el enfoque y motivaciones. En un segundo bloque, confrontaremos directamente ambas obras en razón de la antropología, visión social, ética y económica subyacente. Este contraste clarifica en qué puntos el enfoque de Fernández Flórez se adapta al ideario liberal-conservador y dónde existen un conjunto de importantes singularidades que evidencian el carácter genuino de su aparente “conservadurismo”. Finalmente, propondremos algunas conclusiones de nuestro análisis sobre el conservadurismo imaginativo de Fernández Flórez.

    The main objective of this work is to study the social thought of Fernández Flórez through the analysis of one of his most significant works (The Seven Pillars) and, in particular, the study of its parallels with the foundational work of conservative liberal thought, The Fable of the Bees by Bernard de Mandeville. In a first block, after approaching the general visions about the thought of this author, we will take a tour of both works analyzing the background, their structure and content. This mostly descriptive review will allow us to show the existing parallels, with the liberal-conservative ideology and, even, in the approach and motivations. In a second block, we will directly confront both works because of the anthropology, social, ethical and underlying economic vision. This contrast clarifies at what points Fernández Flórez’s approach adapts to the liberal-conservative ideology and where we find important singularities that show the genuine character of his apparent “conservatism”. Finally, we will propose some conclusions from our analysis and about the imaginative conservatism of Fernández Flórez.
