    Considerando que a figura do editor e livreiro influencia o processo de construção do saber, o fito deste artigo é perquirir o modo como os livreiros-editores Anatole Louis Garraux (1833-1904) e os irmãos Antônio Maria (1857-1936) e José Joaquim Teixeira (?-1929) contribuíram com a produção e circulação do livro na cidade de São Paulo de fins do século XIX. Para cumprir esse objetivo, vamos investigar a relação entre o mercado livreiro e a capital paulistana das últimas décadas do Oitocentos. Em seguida, abordar os princípios basilares que regem o trabalho de um livreiro-editor; e, assim, versar sobre a maneira como o francês Garraux e os portugueses irmãos Teixeira promoveram a edição, produção e circulação de livros, a fim de demonstrar a importância desses personagens para a consolidação do mercado livreiro e para a edificação de espaços sociais de fomento e difusão de bens culturais na Pauliceia finissecular

    Considering that the editor and bookseller figure influences the process of knowledge construction, the present work purpose is to objectify the way in which the booksellers-editors Anatole Louis Garraux (1833-1904) and the brothers Antônio Maria (1857-1936) and José Joaquim Teixeira (? -1929) contributed to the book production and circulation São Paulo city at the end of the 19th century. To accomplish this goal, we’re going to investigate the relationship between the book market and São Paulo capital in the 19th century. Then, the basic principles governing the work of booksellers-editors are addressed. In this context, approach the way that the French Garraux and the Portuguese Teixeira brothers promoted the books edition, production and circulation, in order to demonstrate the booksellers-editors importance for the book market consolidation as well as for the social spaces construction of cultural goods development and diffusion in the Pauliceia at the end of 19thcentury
