  • Resumen
    • This essay examines the rhetorical form of Jesse Jackson's speech to the 1988 Democratic National Convention. The distinguishing and effective precept of Jackson's rhetorical form is its musical disposition. The sonata as a musical form is utilized as a critical tool for explicating Jackson's rhetoric and is combined with principles of southern Baptist Black oratory to suggest a method of rhetorical analysis that focuses on rhythm as a key construct.
