“História sob vigilância”: estudos da memória e a pedagogia de ensino dos traumas coletivos

    The main objective of the text is to analyze the studies of memory as a historical source and of its urgency in the present time. To this end, we constructed a division of memory studies into three central axes: the first, from the 1980s, with the republication of the work Collective Memory of Maurice Halbwachs and the first publication of The Places of Memory by Pierre Norra; the second and third axes, inscribed in the same context, refer to the studies of Shoah’s memory policies and globalization of memory, widely disseminated by Andreas Huyssen, and the problematization around the concept of post-memory, coined by Marianne Hirsch. We discussed the pedagogy of two museums concerned with the History of the Shoah: Yad Vashem of Israel and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. It is possible to notice that in the 1990s the culture of memory gains a political dimension of celebrations, which leads us to intense discussions about the role of this event in the regime of contemporary historicity and, therefore, in the present time.

    O presente artigo tem como objetivo central analisar os estudos da memória enquanto fonte histórica e de sua urgência no tempo presente. Para tal, construímos uma divisão dos estudos da memória em três eixos centrais: o primeiro, a partir da década de 1980, com a republicação da obra Memória coletiva de Maurice Halbwachs e a primeira publicação de Os lugares da memória de Pierre Norra; o segundo e terceiro eixo, inscritos em um mesmo contexto, referem-se aos estudos das políticas da memória e globalização da memória da Shoah, amplamente difundido por Andreas Huyssen, e a problematização em torno do conceito de pós memória, cunhado por Marianne Hirsch. Discutimos a pedagogia de dois museus preocupados com a História da Shoah: o Yad Vashem, de Israel, e o United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. É possível perceber que na década de 1990 a cultura de memória ganha uma dimensão política de comemorações, o que nos leva a intensas discussões acerca do papel desse evento no regime de historicidade contemporâneo e, por conseguinte, no tempo presente.
