Berpizkundean Ingeniaritza Mekanikoak aurrerakada handia izan zuen. Horren eredu, besteak beste,Leonardo da Vinci edo Galileo Galilei ingeniari ezagunak ditugu. Baina badira ere gaur egun hainospetsuak ez diren ingeniariak. Hau da, hain zuzen ere, Juanelo Turrianoren kasua. Bere garaian osoezaguna izan zen, batez ere Toledoko alkazarrera ura igotzeko eraiki zuen Artifizioarengatik. Halaere, gaur egun bere irudia ez da oso ezaguna testuinguru akademikotik kanpo. Mechanical Engineering had a meaningful progress in the Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci and GalileoGalilei are two of the most known examples. But there was a lot of engineers that are not so renownednowadays. One of them is Juanelo Turriano. He was very famous at his time, especially because of thehydraulic device he built in order to raise water from the Tagus to Toledo. Nevertheless, now his figureis not well-known except at academic context. This paper analyses the work of Juanelo Turriano and itstechnological and cultural heritage. Moreover, he is compared with the most famous mechanical engineerof the Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci, analysing the reasons for their fame then and now.
