Resumen de Relationship between attitudes (implicit and explicit), feelings and beliefs: A study on urban and rural areas in Spain

  La migración a la ciudad requiere de un estudio profundo de sus razones. Entre estas razones seencuentran las actitudes hacia las zonas urbana y rurales. Para estudiar la relación entre las actitudes (implícitas y explícitas), los sentimientos y las creencias hacia las zonas urbanas y rurales, se realizó una investigación en la que se midió la actitud implícita a través del Test de Asociación Implícita, y se indagó en la actitud explícita, los sentimientos y las creencias a través de preguntas ad hoc. Los resultados mostraron que tener estudios universitarios (vs. no tenerlos) se relaciona con un afecto menos negativo hacia las zonas urbanas. Se evidenció que aquellos que tenían una actitud implícita y explícita favorable a las zonas urbanas eran los que mayor preocupación manifestaban sobre la despoblación de las zonas rurales. Se discuten los resultados en términos de ‘equilibrio actitudinal’, que implicaría un cambio de actitudes en la población que busca incrementar las creencias sobre los beneficios de las zonas rurales sin detrimento de las creencias positivas asociadas a las zonas urbanas.

  Migration to the city requires in-depth study of the underlying reasons. These reasons include attitudes towards urban and rural areas. To study the relationship between attitudes (implicit and explicit), feelings and beliefs regarding urban and rural areas, we conducted research to measure implicit attitudes through the Implicit Association Test, and explored explicit attitudes, feelings and beliefs through ad hoc questions. The results showed that having a university education (vs. not having one) is associated with less negative feelings towards urban areas. Those who had a favourable implicit and explicit attitude towards urban areas expressed the greatest concern about the depopulation of rural areas. We discuss the results in terms of ‘attitudinal balance’, which would imply a change in attitudes among the population that seeks to increase beliefs about the benefits of rural areas without undermining positive beliefs associated with urban areas.
