    Esta necrológica rinde homenaje a Biruté Ciplijauskaité (1929-2017). Fue una hispanista lituana internacionalmente reconocida, que desarrolló su vida profesional en el Department of Spanish and Portuguese en la University of Wisconsin (EE.UU.) desde 1960 hasta su jubilación en el año 2000. Su vida se vio afectada por la invasión soviética y, en 1944, tuvo que abandonar Lituania. En cuanto a su amplia labor como hispanista, escribió diez monografías sobre autores y temas de la literatura española y 120 artículos sobre distintos temas de literatura comparada. Biruté fue testimonio vivo de la cultura lituana en el exilio: tradujo al lituano buen número de autores españoles, ya que hablaba más de quince lenguas. En el 2015 fue galardonada con el Governor's Archive Award, concedido por la Asociación de Historiadores y Archiveros del Estado de Wisconsin. El gobierno español le había otorgado con anterioridad la orden de Alfonso el Sabio.

    This obituary pays tribute to Biruté Ciplijauskaité (1929-2017). She was an internationally recognized Lithuanian Hispanist, who developed her professional life in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Wisconsin (USA) from 1960 until her retirement in 2000. His life was affected by the Soviet invasion and, in 1944, he had to leave Lithuania. As for his extensive work as a Hispanist, he wrote ten monographs on authors and subjects of Spanish literature and 120 articles on different topics of comparative literature. Biruté was a living testimony of Lithuanian culture in exile: he translated into Lithuanian a number of Spanish authors, since he spoke more than fifteen languages. In 2015 she was awarded the Governor’s Archive Award by the Wisconsin State Association of Historians and Archivists. The Spanish government had previously granted him the order of Alfonso the Wise.
