El costumbrismo como motivo de desprecio (a propósito de Pereda)

    Este artículo se centra en el costumbrismo, que surgió en el siglo XIX. Para Pereda no hay novela del siglo XIX sin costumbrismo. En el artículo se lleva a cabo una reivindicación de esta corriente literaria como un movimiento que refleja los usos y costumbres, unas veces del pasado, otras contemporáneos; las circunstancias de todo tipo que circunscriben la realidad humana y configuran la individualidad de cada uno. Asimismo, se compara y se extraen las diferencias y similitudes entre el costumbrismo y otros movimientos literarios como el realismo y el naturalismo. Se concluye que hubo costumbrismo como medio ambiente en la novela realista y naturalista decimonónica.

    This article focuses on costumbrismo, which emerged in the 19th century. For Pereda there is no 19th century novel without costumbrismo. The article makes a claim to this literary current as a movement that reflects the uses and customs, sometimes of the past, other times contemporary; circumstances which circumscribe human reality and shape the individuality of each. Also, the differences and similarities between costumbrismo and other literary movements such as realism and naturalism are compared and extracted. It is concluded that there was costumbrismo as environment in the nineteenth-century realistic and naturalistic novel.
