Resumen de La adopción del título de Basileus en el marco de la Gran Guerra romano-persa (602-628): entre la discusión historiográfica y los horizontes interpretativos

Durante el siglo XX se desarrolló una interesante controversia historiográfica en torno a las causas que motivaron a los emperadores romanos a adoptar el título de Βασιλεúς al finalizar la Gran Guerra romano-persa (602-628). En la primera parte de este trabajo repasaremos esta polémica rescatando las principales hipótesis en pugna. En la segunda parte, consideraremos las dimensiones y usos del título de basileus en el conflictivo contexto del siglo VII, a partir del análisis de la literatura de la época y los documentos oficiales.

During the twentieth century an interesting historiographical controversy developed around the factors that motivated the Roman emperors to adopt the title of Βασιλεúς at the end of the Great Roman-Persian War (602-628). In the first part of this work we will review this controversy rescuing the main hypotheses in conflict. In the second part, we will consider the dimensions and uses of the basileus title in the conflictive context of the seventh century, from the analysis of the literature of the time and official documents.
